O.
H. Ivie Reservoir is one of the top Bass lakes in Texas. It was
impounded in 1990 and has a conservation level of 19,200 acres and
about 1/2 million acre feet of clean, clear water.
Two
rivers, the Colorado and the Concho, flow into the lake along with
many smaller tributaries. The maximum depth in the lake is over 120
feet. 90% of the lake bottom was left in its natural state providing
an excellent habitat for fish.
Species
which abound in Ivie are the famous Florida strain of Largemouth Bass,
which in only ten years has produced a Bass just under 15 pounds. A
double digit Bass gets little notice the past few years. White Bass
fishing is at times phenomenal and is always good, day or night.
Crappie, in season are big and tasty and can be taken most of the year
with lights. Channel, Blue, and Yellow Catfish always provide exciting
fishing. Small mouth Bass and several variety of large perch provide
excellent eating and non-stop action.
